Forest Bathing Walk – Bealtaine theme

You are very welcome to join us for a Bealtaine-themed Forest Bathing Walk at Brigit’s Garden with qualified guide Carol Barrett – a lovely opportunity to slow down, open your senses and tune into nature at this special time in the wheel of the year.

Just like the blossoms around us, we will honour what might be flowering within us and enjoy the light and growth that this time of year brings.

What is Forest Bathing?

Forest Bathing is based on the Japanese practice of Shinrin Yoku, a multi-sensory, nature mindfulness experience. The guide offers a series of meditative ‘invitations’ to help you slow down, focus on your senses and notice nature around you – from the unfurling of a young fern and the crunching of leaves underfoot to the distant call of the cuckoo or the smell of damp moss. Each person notices something different, and there will be times for sharing experiences – or staying quiet!

When we align with the seasons and connect with the life-force of nature, we are open to receive gifts of well-being and wisdom. Forest Bathing has been scientifically proven to have positive effects on the nervous system, boost the immune system and reduce stress.

The walk takes place in the meadows and woodlands at Brigit’s Garden and lasts for two and a half hours. At the end, we gather for a Tea Ceremony, based on the Japanese tradition that promotes harmony and tranquillity. Foraged leaves, herbs and berries are infused to create a hot, fresh-brewed seasonal drink which we will share together…with some treats too! Enjoy the atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and reflect on your journey.

What to bring

Please bring:

  • One more layer than you expect to need – when walking slowly our bodies don’t warm up like they do on an energetic hike.
  • Waterproof jacket, trousers and boots. The ground may be wet in the morning and we may find ourselves sitting on the forest floor or against a tree.

Please don’t bring extra bags and that you will have to carry around. It is best to be hands free and light. Your guide will have emergency water, first aid, mobile phone etc.

Please note – we will continue in light rain or showers but will cancel in the event of serious weather.

Join us for two more Forest Bathing Walks this summer:
