What is Forest Bathing?
Forest Bathing is based on the Japanese practice of “Shinrin Yoku”. It is a multi-sensorial, nature mindfulness experience that uses grounding exercises to connect with nature leaving you refreshed and relaxed. Part of the practice involves slowing down and being calm in the forest and noticing nature all around you. This has been scientifically proven to have positive effects on the nervous system, boost the immune system and reduce stress.
During this two hour experience, you will be guided meditatively around the Garden and woodlands. You will be invited to focus on your senses, slow down and absorb the natural world around you. We will share some of our experiences and finish with a tea ceremony.
What to bring?
Please bring one more layer than you expect to need. When slowing down, our bodies can get cooler.
Wear waterproof clothing – waterproof jacket, waterproof trousers and waterproof boots. The ground may be wet early in the morning and we may find ourselves lying on the forest floor or sitting against a tree.
In Ireland, we are used to getting showers of rain and hail throughout the day so it is best to be prepared.
What NOT to bring?
Don’t bring extra bags and baggage that you will have to carry around. It is best to be “hands free” and light. Your guide will have emergency water, first aid, mobile phone etc.
